There are many reasons why I decided to pursue a career in phlebotomy. First and foremost, I love helping people. I know that sounds cheesy, but it’s true! I also appreciate the science behind medicine and was intrigued by the idea of working in a lab. Phlebotomy offered the perfect blend of both of those things – it’s a hands-on job that allows me to help people every day. Another reason why I love phlebotomy is because it offers so many opportunities for growth. As a phlebotomist

I was recently put in a position where I had to go above and beyond my job duties. Our company was going through a merger and there was an immense amount of paperwork that needed to be completed in a very short time frame. My manager asked me if I could stay late each night to help get everything done. Not only did I stay late, but I also came in on the weekends to help out. In the end, we were able to get everything done on time and the merger went smoothly.
Phlebotomy is a critical procedure in the medical field that can help save lives. Because of this, it is important for phlebotomists to be knowledgeable and skilled in the process. I enjoy most the satisfaction I get from helping people and making a difference in their lives. Every day, I am able to help someone with a problem they are having or offer them some helpful advice. Whether it is resolving a customer service issue or providing information that helps them make a decision, I know that I am making an impact and helping to improve someone's day. Additionally, I love the variety my job offers. No two days are ever the same, which keeps things interesting. I am constantly learning new things and meeting new people.
A difficult blood draw that I was able to successfully complete was one where the patient had a very limited veins. The veins in their arms were small and close to the surface, making it difficult to find a vein that was big enough to get a needle into. We ended up having to use a vein in their leg, which was also difficult because the patient was overweight and their leg was swollen. We were able to get the needle in and get the blood drawn without any problems, thanks to our team's experience and skill.

I have improved patient satisfaction rates by working on creating a culture of continuous improvement. I have empowered my staff to come up with and implement solutions to problems that they see everyday. I also emphasize the importance of providing excellent customer service to our patients. By doing these things, I have created a department where everyone is constantly working to make improvements and provide the best possible care to our patients.
There are always areas of improvement that can be seen in any field, and phlebotomy is no exception. One area of improvement that could be beneficial is an increase in the number of phlebotomists who are certified.
