    I have many industry mentors that inspire my work in merchandising. One such individual is Ron Johnson, the former Senior Vice President at Apple and the creator of the Apple retail stores. I admire his ability to create unique and innovative shopping experiences for customers and his focus on creating a brand culture within his stores. Another mentor of mine is Howard Schultz, the former CEO of Starbucks. I've been inspired by him for years with his focus on creating a "third place" for people to gather and his attention to detail in every aspect of the Starbucks experience.     As a merchandiser, it's important to keep up with trends in the fashion industry. Trends change quickly and it's important to stay up-to-date on what's popular so that you can accurately predict what styles and items will be in demand.
