My initial interest in geological engineering was fueled by my fascination with the Earth's surface and how it has been shaped over time. The challenges I have encountered while working as a geological engineer are many. Probably the most difficult part of the job is trying to find new ways to extract oil and gas from unconventional sources. Often times we are forced to work in very remote and harsh environments, which can make our jobs very difficult. Another big challenge is dealing with the ever-changing political environment and its impact on the energy industry. Despite these challenges, I love my job and would not trade it for anything else.
